# Mass Edit

**Mass options** acts on many items at once. It has three tabs:

- **Rename**: find and replace text in item names and texture variant names.
- **Mix order**: reshuffle the drawable numbers inside each slot.
- **Duplicates**: find and remove copies. This has its own page, [Find Duplicates](/cloth-tool/about-the-tool/find-duplicates).

Mass options is free. Nothing is written until you have seen the exact before and after for every affected row.

## Opening it

- Click the **Mass options** button beside the item list's search box.
- Or select several items, right-click and choose **Edit names in the selected items…**.

At the top, choose which items it acts on:

| Scope | Items |
| --- | --- |
| **Selected (N)** | The rows you picked by hand. Shown only when you have a selection. |
| **Filtered (N)** | What the item list currently shows after its search and gender filter. Shown only when that differs from the whole project. |
| **All items** | Every item in the project. |

The scope stays the same when you switch tabs.

## Rename

:::steps
### Set up the replacement
Type the text to change in **Find** and the new text in **Replace with**. Leave **Replace with** empty to remove the text. Choose whether to change **Item names**, **Texture names** or both, and tick **Match case** if capitals matter.

### Read the preview
Every affected row is listed with its old and new name, and the preview updates as you type. The header counts the changes. A row marked **blocked** is one the app will not rename, with the reason beside it; it is skipped.

### Apply
Click **Replace N name(s)**. Click **Undo** in the dialog to put the names back.
:::

Names here are labels inside the tool. Renaming them does not change the built file names.

## Mix order

Mix order reshuffles the drawable numbers inside each slot.

:::hint{type="warning" title="This changes what ships"}
Drawable numbers are how servers, outfits and clothing scripts refer to garments. After a mix, anything that uses the old numbers points at different clothes from the next build on.
:::

| Option | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Seed** | Decides the order. The same seed on the same project always gives the same order, so note it down if you might need to repeat a shuffle. **New seed** picks another. |
| **Slot start** > **Entire set** | Every item in each slot can move. |
| **Slot start** > **Keep first** N | The first N items of every slot keep their numbers. These are usually the ones a server already uses. This is the default, with N set to 10. |

The preview lists every item that gets a new number, with counts of items held and unchanged. Click **Shuffle N item(s)** to apply. Click **Undo** in the dialog to restore the old numbers.

If fewer than two items are free to move, nothing happens and the dialog says so.

## Undo

Besides the **Undo** button in the dialog, both Rename and Mix order can be undone with `Ctrl+Z`, like every other action in the app.

## Other bulk actions

- Right-click a selection for more actions on many items, such as **Duplicate the selected items**, **Copy the selected items to the other gender**, **Optimize textures in the selected items…** and the **Export** submenu.
- Price, shop and other shop fields across many items are edited with **Edit shop metadata in the selected items…**, a Premium tool. See [Shop Metadata](/cloth-tool/about-the-tool/shop-metadata).
